Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre after being arraigned on allegations bordering on cyber-related offences.

Okorie was reportedly arrested late Tuesday night in Lagos by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department before being transferred to Abuja.

Confirming the development on Wednesday, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the actress was taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja.

Filmmaker Ajemba Stanley also confirmed that Okorie was charged to court on Wednesday, after which the court ordered her remand at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.

Reacting to the development, Stanley took to social media to criticise the speed and manner of the process, describing it as an abuse of power.
According to him, Okorie was arrested around midnight, flown to Abuja by 6am, and arraigned in court the same morning.

“You arrested Angela Okorie at midnight, flew her to Abuja as early as 6am, and this morning took her straight to court, where she was remanded in Suleja prison,” he wrote.

He further questioned the swift judicial process, expressing concern over the situation of his colleague.

“So the judiciary can work this fast? Tell me how you will sleep tonight knowing fully well that your colleague is in prison,” Stanley added.
