Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, as preparations intensify for the party’s March national convention.

The meeting which was chaired by the PGF chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, brought together several APC governors, including Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom.
Governors Dikko Radda (Katsina), Babagana Zulum (Borno), and Muhammad Yahaya (Gombe) were absent but were represented by their respective deputies.

Also present at the meeting were members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, underscoring the strategic importance of the consultations.

Discussions at the meeting focused on key party matters, including the ongoing electronic membership registration, preparations for ward and local government congresses, and other critical national and internal party issues ahead of the convention.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Governor Uzodimma said the Forum remains firmly committed to strengthening democracy within the party, noting that the e-registration exercise would help build a credible, data-driven membership base.

According to a communiqué issued after the meeting, the governors reaffirmed their collective resolve to deepen internal democracy, reinforce party structures, and pursue reforms that enhance transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness across all levels of the APC.

The Forum also reviewed and endorsed the timetable and institutional framework approved by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for the conduct of ward, local government, state, zonal congresses, and the national convention.

In addition, the PGF stressed the need for transparent and coordinated financial management during party congresses and conventions, to ensure fairness and consistency across all states, including those not governed by the APC.

The governors further reaffirmed their commitment to party unity, urging responsible communication and collective discipline among party leaders to strengthen public trust in the APC’s democratic processes.
