Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has addressed the threat from three former governors—Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji, and Okezie Ikpeazu—who reportedly plan to take him to court over his decision to run state functions from his private residence in Isiala Ngwa South LGA.

Speaking on the matter, Governor Otti assured that his legal team is fully prepared to handle any eventual lawsuit. He explained that his continued operations from his personal residence in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, rather than the state capital, Umuahia, is due to the poor condition of the Government House facility.

“Somebody said he will sue me for not operating from his house in Umuahia. Well, I am waiting for the suit. My lawyers are prepared,” Otti stated.

The Governor emphasized that his actions do not violate the constitution, noting, “I have looked at the constitution, and I didn’t see where there is a provision that I must operate from a particular place.”

Otti further stressed that Abia citizens are more concerned with the state’s development than the location from which he governs. He also expressed surprise that one of the former governors launched a verbal attack on his administration from as far away as Ebonyi State—a move that prompted responses from Abia State government media personnel.

The Governor reassured residents that the reconstruction of Umuahia Government House is ongoing and that his focus remains on advancing development in Abia State.
