Troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, have recorded major successes in ongoing offensive operations against terrorists and bandits in Zamfara State.

The operation, conducted within the notorious Sububu Forests of Maradun Local Government Area, led to the neutralisation of six terrorists, recovery of arms and ammunition, destruction of terrorist camps, and the rescue of a kidnapped underage victim.

In a statement, the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Captain David Adewusi, said the offensive was aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves and restoring peace to the state.

According to him, the operation began with a targeted engagement at Indulumu village, where troops confronted and neutralised two terrorists after a fierce firefight. One AK-47 rifle was recovered during the encounter.

“The Strike Force advanced to Ruduno village, where troops encountered further resistance. In a display of gallantry and tactical superiority, they neutralised four additional terrorists, dismantling a key element of the criminal network,” Adewusi said.

He added that another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two motorcycles used for terrorist mobility and logistics were recovered and destroyed on site.

Beyond the combat successes, the operation also recorded a significant humanitarian outcome. Troops, while exploiting deeper into the forest, rescued a kidnapped underage girl, identified as Halira Ibrahim, ending her captivity.

“The rescue highlights the unwavering commitment of our troops to protecting vulnerable citizens and tackling the menace of kidnapping,” the statement noted.

Captain Adewusi further disclosed that the operation continued with the destruction of multiple terrorist camps and life-support structures in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga, and Kukatara, significantly disrupting the terrorists’ ability to sustain operations and denying them safe havens.
