The Presidency has dismissed concerns following a brief incident involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during an official welcome ceremony in Ankara, Türkiye, describing it as a minor and non-injurious stumble.

In a statement on Tuesday, presidential aides explained that the President momentarily missed his footing while walking alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at a ceremonial reception.

He was immediately assisted by security personnel and aides and resumed the programme without delay.

According to the Presidency, President Tinubu did not sustain any injury and remained in high spirits throughout the event, proceeding to participate fully in all scheduled bilateral engagements.

“The incident was minor and posed no health concerns whatsoever. Mr President is hale, hearty, and fully engaged in the objectives of his state visit,” the statement said.

The Presidency further urged the public to disregard exaggerated interpretations circulating on social media, stressing that such incidents can occur in public ceremonies and should not be misconstrued.

President Tinubu is in Türkiye on an official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and strategic cooperation between Nigeria and Türkiye, with several high-level meetings and agreements scheduled as part of the visit.
