The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its operations nationwide, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of large quantities of drugs and explosives in recent days.

Lagos – Cannabis Interception at Jakande Beach

In the early hours of Thursday, January 22, NDLEA’s Marine Command intercepted a wooden boat carrying 44 jumbo bags of “Ghana Loud” cannabis, weighing a total of 1,848 kilograms, at Jakande Beach, Lekki.

The shipment, reportedly just arrived from Ghana, was recovered along with the boat following a precision raid based on credible intelligence.

Kaduna & Kano – Explosives Seizures and Arrests

Two suspects, Aminu Ali Baba (20) and Abdulrasheed Abubakar (28), were arrested on January 23 in connection with 140 packets of explosives discovered in a commercial bus along the Kaduna–Zaria Highway.

Follow-up operations led to Ali Baba’s arrest at Karota Park in Kano and Abubakar’s apprehension at Mando Park, Kaduna.

Zaria, Kaduna – Skunk Cannabis Bust
An intelligence-led raid in Kwangila, Zaria on January 22 saw NDLEA operatives arrest Fatima Ibrahim (42) and Adejimoh Ismaila (44), recovering 120 kilograms of skunk cannabis.

Borno – Tramadol and Diazepam Seized
On January 21, NDLEA intercepted 179,590 pills of tramadol and diazepam, concealed in sacks of charcoal and animal feed on a public transport vehicle from Potiskum, Yobe State.

A follow-up operation at Bulabulin, Maiduguri, resulted in the arrest of the owner, Rabiu Imam (32).
Niger & Kwara – Tramadol Bust and Arrest

A female suspect, Mrs. Eze Cynthia Chioma, was arrested in Mokwa, Niger State on January 23. This followed the seizure earlier the same day of 78,500 tramadol pills in a truck coming from Lagos at Bode Saadu, Kwara State.

Mrs. Chioma’s husband is already in prison facing trial for a similar offense.
These coordinated efforts highlight the NDLEA’s ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking and the circulation of explosives in Nigeria, sending a clear message to criminal networks operating across the country.
