Manchester United have been dealt a significant setback after winger Patrick Dorgu was ruled out for up to 10 weeks following a hamstring injury picked up during Sunday’s dramatic 3–2 Premier League victory over Arsenal.
The 21-year-old Denmark international was in outstanding form at the Emirates Stadium, scoring a stunning half-volley from the edge of the area to help United secure all three points.
However, his impressive display ended prematurely when he was forced off late in the match after pulling up while sprinting to chase a long ball.
Initial indications suggested the issue might be cramp, with interim head coach Michael Carrick expressing optimism in his post-match assessment.
“He came off with what looked like a bit of cramp,” Carrick said. “At that stage, it was difficult to know the extent of it, so we were hoping it wasn’t anything serious.”
Further medical examinations have since confirmed a hamstring tear, with club sources revealing that Dorgu is expected to be sidelined until mid-April.
The injury will see him miss United’s next eight Premier League fixtures, as well as the March international break, where he had been tipped to feature for Denmark in upcoming World Cup qualification matches.
Carrick acknowledged the impact of the setback, highlighting the winger’s growing importance to the team’s attacking play.
“He’s been a big player for us recently,” Carrick added. “He’s scored goals, but beyond that, his athleticism, attacking threat and overall quality have been vital for us.”
Dorgu has enjoyed an excellent run of form in recent weeks, scoring in consecutive wins against Manchester City and Arsenal.
He has registered three goals and three assists in 14 appearances across all competitions this season, making his absence a notable blow as United look to maintain momentum in the league.
