NDE Trains 50 women On Souvenir, Confectionery Making In FCT

The National Directorate of Employment, NDE Federal Capital Territory has commenced a 5- day training for not fewer than 30 women in Bwari and 20 in Kuje area councils on Souvenir making and confectioneries respectively as parts of its efforts to addressing the challenges of unemployment across the country.

Director General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo made this known during the orientation and flag off ceremony of the 5-day training at the NDE Skills Acquisition Center Kuduru,  Bwari - Abuja, adding that this training is expected to play a critical role in poverty reduction in Nigeria by providing employment opportunities.

Represented by the NDE-FCT  state coordinator, Mr. Noble Chimereze said the five days skill acquisition training will equip  the women with the requisite skills needed in the  making of Souvenirs and confectioneries respectively, adding that these trades are viable trades that will not only provide money to their pockets but will make them economic self- reliant and employers of labour.

He therefore charged the beneficiaries to take their training serious so as to maximize the opportunity to better their lives and that of their families.

Also speaking, the head of Unit,  Women Employment Branch, Mrs Zainab Ozimade said the purpose of this program will only be fulfilled when the women make good use of the opportunity and create business out of them, and charged them to be focused on their training so as to be successful entrepreneurs.

Appreciating the NDE, Mrs Okonkwo Euphemia who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the management of the NDE for providing the training and support for the unemployed persons and promised  that they will make adequate utilization of the opportunity.
