Obi's Endorsement :Tinubu Slam Obasanjo, Says He's Jealous Of Him
The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Asiwaju Tinubu, has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of being jealous of him. He also claimed that Obasanjo tried to frustrate him when he was in office as Governor of Lagos State.
These claims from Tinubu are coming after the former President endorsed the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as his preferred candidate for the 2023 election.
In a long letter which he released a few days ago, Obasanjo had said that although none of the presidential candidates is a saint, he thinks Peter Obi has an edge in the forthcoming election.
He described Obi as his mentee, and said that Obi is like a needle with a thread attached to it from the North and South, and that he cannot be lost.
The endorsement of Peter Obi by the former President had attracted mixed reactions from the camps of other presidential candidates, including from the APC camp. Tinubu's camp maintained that the endorsement of Peter Obi by Obasanjo does not mean Obi will win the election, and even described Obasanjo as a political paperweight.
While speaking at the APC presidential campaign rally in Edo State, Tinubu described Obasanjo's endorsement of Peter Obi as "poison."
He said - "I brought electricity company all the way from America, paid all the necessary little fundamental things... When Obasanjo saw it, he could not tell me that he was jealous. I told him, it is about time now, I am a city boy from Lagos... It is time to eliminate darkness. I told him, Baba, before you can create jobs, we need electricity. He took our money, and started punishing us, and every month, we went back home. I looked at him one day and laughed, I said Baba, what you have done is daring me to action of brain, development and mind game, and I'll play it and I'll pass you."
