Gov Diri: Withdraw Defamatory Publication Or Face Repercussion, MEND Warns Sahara Reporters, Deji Adeyanju

Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND has expressed displeasure and anger over a news report published by online news organisation, Sahara Reporters in which the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri was said to have leaked a explicit video of his affair with the Speaker of the South African Parliament, Zanele Sifuba.

While saying that the allegation is spurious, false, fallacious and unfounded, the leadership of MEND said Diri has not been to South Africa in the last ten years nor has any personal affair with the Speaker.

In a statement on Saturday, MEND through its Spokesman Commander Inetimi Godspower warned Sahara Reporters and activist Deji to take down the news or provoke the group into leaving the creek to fish then out for severe legal and physical action.

The group wondered why the activist would be sharing on his social media platforms what it described as a tissue of barefaced lies, warning that if the news is not retracted with an apology, both the publisher and the sharers will have a case to answer.

"We are not unaware that this is just an evil handiwork of politicians who are bent on maligning the image of the Governor in response to their incurable envy because of the rising profile of the Governor's performance.

"It is most unfortunate that Sahara Reporters owned by a man of questionable character, Omoyele Sowore has made itself a willing tool for this shady job.

"This will be the last of their criminal blackmail and desperate attempt to tarnish the image of the performing Governor General of Ijaw nations. This is a man who has demonstrated transformal leadership in the state.

"Sahara Reporters, Deji Adeyanju and those sponsoring them will know that defamation has a consequence. They must provide evidence and Withdraw the libelous publication with apology if not, the repercussions will be serious.

"Governor General of Ijaw Nation is busy keeping his covenant of excellent leadership with the people and we will not tolerate mischief makers and criminal liars defame him and go scot-free" the group said.
