As parts of the strategic steps for national planning, the federal government through it agency, National Directorate of Employment NDE has commenced the registration of unemployed persons across the six area councils of the federal capital territory to provide the federal government with the statistics needed for effective job creation planning.

Speaking while handling materials to the NDE desk officers deployed to the six area councils, the NDE-FCT Coordinator, Mr. Chimereze Noble said the exercise was imperative as the data collected would assist the federal government in effective planning for job creation.

Noble added that the exercise was in line with the directorate's mandate of responding to the compelling need for the formation of a permanent organizational framework to address Nigeria's unemployment problem, and to actualize this mandate, federal government wants to have complete data of the unemployed persons in the country to make adequate plans for them, and NDE amongst other roles will continue to serve as a clearing house to link job seekers with other government agencies.

According to him, the registration exercise was scheduled to commence from Monday 17th April, 2023 and would end on Friday 5th May, 2023, and advised unemployed Nigerians especially FCT residents to comply and register at their various area councils while hoping that this exercise would fulfill its promise of creating employment for the teeming youth population in Nigeria.
